Students must have been in the Murphy High School Band for a minimum of one (1) year in order to apply. Applications are due April 7 at 11:59pm; the application and attached information is for all leadership positions, including colorguard.
To be a leader in band, you must complete an interview and/or audition, be in the band class all year, and winds/percussionists must audition for MCPSS Honor Band and All-State (required if you make MCPSS Honor Band; if not, you can opt to perform at Solo & Ensemble Festival to fulfill the "All-State" requirement) - this requirement does not include colorguard. You must also complete an interview with Mr. White after school on April 8. In addition, all band fees must be paid to be selected as leader AND you must fill out the Intent Form to apply.
Drum Major candidates must have two (2) Murphy teachers complete a recommendation form - I will send teachers the link to the form on March 24, giving teachers two weeks to complete the form; I recommend asking them ASAP and reminding them once the form is posted. Drum Major candidates will have a video audition they must complete after school on April 8. CLICK HERE for drum major technique videos.
